In fact in the last 10 years it has happened only one other time. Phil, the groom to be, planned to ask Nicole to marry him last weekend at his brother’s wedding reception. The Hotel Baker in St. Charles has a wonderful garden and stone courtyard right out the back door. Phil snuck out of the reception with Nicole to a small terrace overlooking the river. I didn’t want to spoil the surprise, so I snuck out behind them attempting to hide in the distance. Enjoy this little movie of the proposal. Congratulations to Phil and Nicole!

I’m still not sure how, but we avoided both for the this outdoor wedding. Jen and David had the perfect weather and an unbelievable location. The Armour House is by far one of my favorite outdoor locations to date. On a side note, these two are the reason I love my job. We had a limited time to shoot after the wedding but they let me take them anywhere I had in mind. Thanks for the short trek down to the lake!

I was just preparing a few of their images and couldn’t help but post their movie. 3 stories of window light at the hotel was a dream come true. We shot a good portion of the girls right in the main lobby of the hotel. Marilyn, the wedding planner from, Honey Bee Weddings even helped out a bit holding one of my video lights!
Megan and Matt had their ceremony at Holy Name Catholic Church and the reception was at the Murphy Auditorium.

It truly has ivy running up all the courtyard walls. What a cool place for cocktail hour!

Although I almost fell out of the Rolls Royce that took us around town, it was of course a great addition to their images. I worked with two of my favorite people at the wedding, Chrissy from Big City Bride and the always an adventure, Jason Groh, from Lexoria Wedding Films.

One more highlight that I can’t forget, a bar of freshly made waffle bowls overflowing with Coldstone Ice Cream. Have I mentioned my love for all things sweet?

This was my first time shooting wedding pictures there but I knew it would instantly be a favorite spot. Even Tanja’s room provided great window light for her getting ready pictures. Thank you Tanja for putting up with me before the wedding. We used the main lobby, the upstairs, a hallway and even stopped in the bar for a few pictures before all the girls headed for the trolley.

Dana and Nick had their wedding reception at The Hotel Arista. You’ll see how contemporary it is with a few pictures and the end of the movie with the bride and groom.

We started at the Omni Hotel then Kate and Ryan had their first look of the day at the Peninsula Hotel. If you haven’t been to the bar in the Peninsula I suggest a visit. If you are looking for a unique spot for pictures in Chicago stop by the bar.

The Chicago tour continued with Michigan Ave and Olive Park for bridal party pictures before the ceremony at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. The reception was at one of my favorite reception venues in Chicago, the Chicago History Museum. The back are is perfect for cocktail hour and the main hall is a great space for a formal dinner.

I’ve been to quite a few weddings at St. Michael but Brittany and Zach’s came with a surprise from Father Sonny. You’ll notice him playing guitar in the middle of this movie. He stopped and sang them a song while he played mid ceremony. From the look on their faces it was pretty special for the bride and groom.

Post ceremony we headed west to the St. Charles Country Club. If you have not been, it is a Country Club worth visiting. Tucked back in the trees and on a rolling hill, the club provides wonderful backdrops for wedding pictures. Lookout for pictures of the dessert trays that came out late in the evening. They really spent a lot of time making all of the details perfect for Brittany and Zach.

We went everywhere from Wrigley Field to the Adler Planetarium for their wedding pictures. However I think the highlight of the day was the Westin at Yorktown Center in Lombard. It is one of my favorite suburb hotels for pictures of the bride and groom. How can you go wrong with giant walls with water flowing down them. Truth be told,  Jean would stand out against any background. She is absolutely stunning! Make sure you press the RED HQ BUTTON to view in high quality.
